BuQtair

Updated:

Since I first wrote about BuQtair (see the post below) the restaurant has gone through a bit of an upgrade (shame as I loved the feel of the original so much) and has moved across the road from its original location.

It is now located in the fishing harbour closest to the Burj Al Arab.

The bonus of its facelift is that BuQtair is now open from 11:30 in the morning and makes for a great spot for lunch as well and if the choice was between shutting it down completely or giving it a new home, I’ll take the new home option any day. All the menu favourites are still there so yay to that.

See the original post below for tips on what to order.

It’s still worth getting there early in the evenings, as BuQtair is a big Dubai favourite, that is very popular and very good indeed.

BuQtair is one of my absolute favourite places in Dubai. I’ve been stuffing my face with their food for about 7 or 8 years now and it was one of Dubai’s best kept secrets, but these days more and more people know about it and rightfully so, cos it’s fantastic. They only have a few things on the menu but what they do have is heavenly. Whenever visitors come to town, BuQtair is always on the list of places that we go to and friends and family always ask for a return visit.

It’s cheap and delicious. Dresscode: Comfy. As in, wear your comfy clothes, cos you’ll be sitting outside, on plastic stools and you’ll be eating a lot.

On the menu: fish (I love the sherry) and prawns (order by weight), marinated in somewhat spicy goodness and then cooked to a crisp.

It gets busy quickly though, so the earlier you show up, the better.

I try to get there by 6pm, get my order in quick and then the wait is minimal.

Anytime after 7pm, expect a long queue to order and to get your table and food. Well worth the wait though!

If you like seafood, BuQtair will definitely become a favourite.

It’s a little bit tricky to find if you haven’t been there before. It’s just off the Jumeirah Beach Road. Perhaps this pic will help (click on the image for link):
